we can be called a "beast". When we walk through the door in heels, keep our lipstick applied or simply smile as we speak.....

well let's say we can be considered "just another pretty face".

Throughout my life and career, I've experienced both sides as I gave 200% while earning my degrees and climbing the corporate ladder. As I learned to be less of what others expected or wanted and more of who I really was, I found my balance. Understanding how to communicate ideas, how interactions change depending on the situation and how it is important to ascertain each individuals perception of me.

                   THE START OF A MISSION

In a world in which women strive for success and equality, it is easy to inhale the words others use to describe us. If not careful, they flood our lungs and our heart with smoke so thick it can smother. When we push too hard, if we speak too loud or we stand out in what others feel is discord,

One day, as I was working 50 hours a week, completing my Master's Degree and raising a family, I had contemplated what I heard others saying about my larger than life personality, my nose to the grindstone work ethic and my transparent business practices.

I looked into the mirror and thought "I am not a Beast for taking my career to the next level. My best outfits and love of makeup

do not negate my intelligence and tenacity, I AM a Beauty & Beast in Business...."

Ovations...

This seminar “Females in Risk Management” was amazing! A room filled with incredible women. Inspirational women speakers and sponsored by several businesses owned by women. I left this event walking on air and motivated to take action in several areas of my life.

It was an honor listening to and meeting Angel Guerra-Chagolla, Teresa Ward and Assembly member Eloise Reyes, last week during the “Sisters in Business Event”. It was also an honor to listen to you Jennifer Lund and see you again!
The speakers empowered future female Risk Management Leaders and covered empowerment, communication and negotiation skills, as well as the difference between mentoring and sponsoring. The most valuable topic for me to listen in on was the common misconceptions surrounding various gender characteristics differences, that make women successful in the field of risk management.
To all the Sponsors- a big “thank you”! The event wouldn’t have been a success without you. I thank you for realizing the potential in this group and for sharing the belie of what is stands for. It was also an honor to meet Damariz Rodriguez, Magda Rios and Cindy Mariani. Seeing many strong women with Woman Owned Companies was truly empowering!
So, Women… know your WORTH!!! Unlock your ideas and let your potential shine! It is within all of us to empower and encourage those around encourage those around us, and to find good qualities and skills in everyone!
